The beautiful beaches of AlgheroAlghero has also beautiful beaches: Bombarde, Lazzaretto, Mugoni Lido and many others surrounded by lush and verdant pine forests. You might visit the Nuraghe Palmavera, a pre-historical complex where Sardinia's ancestors had their houses. Other famous complex are "Domus de Janas" that means "Fairy's houses" and the Necropoli di Anghelu Ruiu - Red angel's Necropolis. |

![]() Another must see place is the Neptune's Grotto "Grotte di Nettuno" a nature's amazing creation that have his entrance located on the see level of Capo Caccia. The Grotto is open for everybody and it takes about thirty minutes to participate to a guided tour inside the cave. It is recommended to get there by sea with one of the many ferries that offer the package to see from the boat the beautiful cliffs that falls into the sea. If you are in really good shape you can reach the entrance from the top of Capo Caccia and walk over six hundred steps down the long "Scala del Cabirol" |

A bit of
historyThe origins of Alghero is more or less still unknown, but for sure it was fortified by Genova's people in the XI Century. The Spanish colonialism conquer the place in the XIV Century a huge number of Catalan people and gave a strong imprint to the city. Beside Italian, still today, it is spoken the Alghero's dialect that is still near the Catalan language, and not the Sardinian that is very near Latin language. |

Alghero's
coralAt shallow waters today, there is not much coral left that can be picked up and forged. Reason, the massive fishing out of control. For the big discover we have to look back to the sixties. A few years ago, coral fishing was finally regulated. Nowadays if you want to see a lot of coral you might look it through the shop windows in the form of figurines, necklaces and earrings. |
